Quality in Endoscopy GI Bleeding Symposium report

The fifth monothematic symposium, this time focusing on GI bleeding, was a great success. “The ESGE Quality in Endoscopy symposia are ideal, with very high level of didactic interactive sessions for both the academic gastroenterologist, practising gastroenterologist at any level. It‘s all about quality; quality of the faculty, and of the participants. Rounding it off with the new hands-on session on Sunday was a perfect way to end the symposium.” said Ian M. Gralnek, ESGE Co-Chair.

Leaders, alongside young rising stars, gathered together to deliberate with participants the most pressing and timely topics in the field of GI bleeding. Interactive talks, case presentations and debates with voting set the stage for a well-rounded and highly topical learning experience. In addition to abstract submission, this series of meetings also sends a call for case presentations and those selected were presented by the authors together with the faculty. Successful candidates came from a variety of countries including: Russia, Portugal, the United Kingdom Romania and Belgium.

As in the four previously held Quality in Endoscopy symposia, the concept of the meeting, aiming at offering two days of exchange, uninhibited discussions in a conducive environment was much appreciated. In addition, the hands-on training was a resounding success which was in high demand and will be introduced into all future Quality in Endoscopy meetings. Last but not least, a beautiful venue and networking events provided the platform for coming together and develop further ways of collaboration in the world of gastrointestinal endoscopy.

Looking forward to meeting you again at future ESGE Quality in Endoscopy symposia in 2015!
